I'm a doctoral candidate in English Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Pécs in Hungary. My research focuses on multimodal literacy development and museum integration in advanced language learning and teacher education contexts in higher education. I have worked in English language teaching publishing with a special interest in reading and multimodal literacy development with the help of picture books and graded readers.

The talk gives insights into the adaptation of classics for secondary-level learners. Drawing on narratology and corpus-driven language analysis, I will showcase the narrative, stylistic, syntactic and lexical choices made during the adaptation of “The Age of Innocence” by Edith Wharton through examples from the original and adapted texts.
